- AGM
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on the 7 th April , at 7 pm , in Grimond Seminar room 7 .
The AGM is the occasion to discuss how things went this year and plan the future. We're looking forward to hearing your suggestions concerning training, socials, etc.
And most importantly, we will vote for next year's committee !
I know everyone will be very busy with essays, but please do attend the AGM. We only ask you to sacrifice one hour, and it is very important for the club.
If you want to run for a position in the committee, represent and help organise the club next year, please fill out one of the application forms and give/send it to me (Julie). The final deadline is Sunday 5 th April .
To run for a position or vote for the next committee, you need to have officially joined the club. A sabbatical officer from Kent Union will be present with an (accurate) list of registered members.

- Film Social
Our next social takes place tomorrow! We're going to watch some kickass Taekwondo films and have a relax evening together. The social starts at 7:30 in GLT3 ( Grimond Building , Lecture Theatre 3). Please bring your own drinks and snacks, your friends are all most welcome!
We might go to a pub on campus or to the Works afterwards, depending on what people want to do.
- New training times
From now on, the training sessions will start earlier. They will start at 17:15 on Tuesday and 20:15 on Thursday. You do not want to be late without a good excuse!
- Fight camps
Please do not forget the deadlines for the Aylesbury and Hungary training camps!
If you plan to go to Aylesbury , bring the application form and £10 deposit and give it to me on Tuesday or Thursday ( Thursday being the final deadline ). If you cannot make it to training, please contact me and we'll arrange a meeting.
If you have decided to go to Hungary , please remember to pay the £50 deposit before March 31 st (keeping in mind that a payment takes a few days to arrive, don't wait until the last day!).
Here are the bank details:
Bank Name: Barclays Bank Plc
Account Name: A F Dorrian
Account Number: 40473146
Sort Code: 20-46-73

- Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will take place on the 7 th April , the last Tuesday of the term, at 7 pm . We will discuss various topics, ask your opinion about what you would like to change in training sessions and socials, and most importantly elect the committee for the next academic year!
If you want to run for a position in the committee, please read through the information sheet and complete the nomination form. You have until Sunday 5 th April to fill out the nomination form and to give it to me.
The AGM is very important for the club. I know everyone will be very busy with essays, but it is crucial that many people come to the AGM and vote for the candidates that they think will be a good committee member. All we ask for is to sacrifice one hour to help the club.
After the social, there is a possibility of going to Ruby Tuesday, if people are up to it. I will indicate the location of the AGM later on.
- Grading
Grading will take place next Sunday 29 th March. To help you revise your poomsaes, I have scanned the patterns you need to know. I have also added a Taekwondo dictionary' to help you learnt the names of the kicks and punches.
You can download the file here: http://rewrote.org/TKD/ poomsae.zip
- Hoodies
Alice, Guy, Jane, Rea and Matt P. still need to contact me to get their hoodies!
For all those who are already proudly representing the club around campus, one piece of advice: Make sure you wash the hoodies inside out, else the Korean writing on the sleeve (indomitable spirit) might wash off.

- 118 Social
WEDNESDAY 25th February, 7:30 pm we will be kicking off the 118 Social at Mungos, and then head to the Venue later on!
The plan is to dress up as 118 people and get crazy ;) So basically what you will need to do is to get yourself a white t-shirt ( H&M do cheap ones usually) and make the 118 logo on it!! Moustaches are of course a must!!
Queue jumps for the Venue will be available. You can find more information (like pictures of last year's social and 118 clips) on the facebook page:
http://www.new.facebook.com/ event.php?eid=64563519488
We have decided to organise a workshop for the 118 t-shirts! We booked a room (Grimond's building, Seminar Room 3) from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday night, so let's all get together after training and have fun while preparing the social. Please bring a white t-shirt and markers (if you have any).

If you paid for the membership but didn't get added to the TKD group, please tell me so, and I'll sort it out. Please add a proof a payment to your email.

First of all we would like to congratulate you on putting your name on the UKC Taekwondo Emailing list last Friday, good on ya! This is the first step towards a membership and a bloody great time!! As you might have read on our flyers, we train hard and party hard . This duality make UKC Taekwondo so popular with members of all ages, gender and nationalities . It is up to you how intense your Taekwondo experience is - you can come to both of our training sessions and the Sparring Training on top of that; or you can just pop up every other week. No one will force you to do anything you don't want to. But we do ask that you at least try. Training Sessions are: Tuesday: 5 - 7pm , Main Hall (Sports Centre) Thursday: 8 - 10 pm , Small Hall (Sports Centre) Saturdays: 1 - 3 pm , Dance Studio (Sports Centre)
Due to insurance reasons we have to inform you that Taekwondo is a Martial Art , and that injuries may well occur (accidents happen!). However, it is far less scary as it sounds, you will probably only receive minor bruises and grazes (if any). Many amazing socials await you in the coming months, starting off with our 1st Pub crawl of the year on the 6th of October (next Monday). This is a great opportunity to get to know other (prospective) members, experience the pubs in town and generally have a good laugh. We will send out another email tomorrow with further details of the when and where. More copies of our Rough Social Itinerary will be available at Training later today, in case you have lost yours. If you are in touch with the technical wonders of the internet, you can join our group on facebook: http://www.new.facebook.com/ group.php?gid=2230946700 Or check out our Website: http://www.ukc-taekwondo.co.uk
If you have any questions or other feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us: ukctaekwondo@googlemail.com We hope to see you all at training this week and we wish you a successful academic year!
