2008 Social Itinerary
- January 16th (Wednesday): Grading Social – A big welcome back to UKC, your course, and training with a pub-crawl around in town completing the black belt challenge!
- January 26th (Saturday): Grading Social 2.0 – The same again but better.
- Early February (TBA): Training Social – Team drinking games inspired by real Taekwondo training!
- February 16th (Saturday): Birmingham University Open Competition – Warm up competition for the University Championships two weeks later. Spectators welcome!
- Competitor Cost: £10 (Sparring only event).
- Spectator Cost: Free!
- Transport and accommodation to be confirmed.
- March 1st (Saturday): University Championships (Nottingham) – Massive competition in Olympic style setting (electronic scoreboards, jigsaw matting, large screen projector, television coverage, etc…) Weigh in will be the night before, and we encourage as many spectators to come as possible to support our competitors!
- Competitor cost: £17 – Sparring, £9 – Patterns, £22 both Sparring and Patterns. (Hopefully these will be subsidised by the club, to be confirmed).
- Spectator cost: Entry to event £5.
- Transport: Will hopefully be by a large coach, cost to be confirmed (hopefully around £10-20).
- Accommodation: To be confirmed, cost will be at most £25-30 per person.
- March (TBA): Paintballing – details and prices to be confirmed.
- March (TBA): AGM Social – The annual AGM will take place down the pub, where next year’s committee will be voted in and any other issues decided. Then we’ll be going down the pub.
- April Weekend – BSTF Taekwondo training camp – Training weekend at Bristol University where all the Taekwondo clubs from Universities across the country meet to train for a weekend together. Nice way to get to know people before the Hungary Trip (see below).
- April (Easter Break): Training continues over Easter break in the Missing Link.
- Late May: End of Year Meal – Very popular way to end the year with meal, drinks and then clubbing in town. Prizes and awards handed out.
- June/July: BSTF training camp in Hungary – chance to travel and train with other universities and the Hungarian National Taekwondo Team at a leisure resort in Hungary, very idyllic and inexpensive.
- July 29th – August 15th - Trip to South Korea – Trip organised by the BSTF to train with a University Club in South Korea as well as at the Kukkikwon (the world headquarters and home of WTF Taekwondo).
